precious metals chart

So I was looking for information on metals and I stumbled upon this site. This is great! One site I can go to to find spot prices on all precious metals. The charts are updated daily and it even shows when the markets are going to open. Very cool. You can go to 'all metal quotes', or 'charts and data' to find exactly what you are looking for. I like it in that I can compare with what I'm being charged. It's always good to keep up on these things. You can find the site here.

Torn up t-shirt

So today is my last day volunteering for the Fringe festival. It has been a wild ride and I will be glad to see it over. I have learned a lot there, being backstage, but I am glad to relax. After I'm done tonight, I'm going to have a drink with my friend Chris. Since neither one of us have to work tomorrow, I'm going to sleep in. I'll have stuff to do, but I am glad to have an extra day off. I'll have to post a picture of my torn up t-shirt I wear at the Fringe. All the volunteers get a t-shirt and for some reason, I got a large. This large is too large and too mannish so I tore it up and made it look cool and fit right. I know this has nothing to do with jewelry, but I am quite impressed with the way it turned out and I've received many compliments, and questions, about it. Thank God it's purple and not orange like last year. Yuck, orange is just not a good color for me.

I'll show you later. have a great night!

New Computer!

So we had a computer built for us. Nothing fancy, it works and does what we need it to do. It runs much faster since it is new and updated. I really like it. So now comes the fun part where we get to import everything from our last drive onto this one, such as the address book, saved emails, photos, music, and other such applications. fun, fun. I'd rather have my teeth worked on. I don't know if it's the program or something else was done, but all the typeface seems bigger too! (I'll bet guys would like to hear stuff looks bigger...)

I digress...since I'm catching up on stuff, I won't have any new pictures up here for a few days. I hope by this weekend, and I know how much you all love the pictures. It sure makes looking at a blog much more fun, doesn't it? I promise we all will be up and running again soon!

Dead computer

well, it seems our home desktop computer may have died. I tried to turn it on early this morning, but it wouldn't wake up. I tried to revive it; I checked the outlets, all the power cords, but nothing. It just wouldn't wake up. I feel I should post an obituary in the local paper. The computer was at least 3 years old. We could really do with a new one. What sucks is that I just had it in the shop for a RAM upgrade a month ago. I have been wanting a MAC laptop for a year now, but even with my student discount, it would cost me $1800. Does anyone have $1800 just burning a whole in their pocket that they don't know what else to do with that money and they'd like to buy me a MAC laptop? Hmmm? anyone? Is there any benevolent philanthropist with a heart of gold, and some extra cash, that is willing to make a generous donation to a good cause; ME? Bueller? Bueller?
If such a person exists, please email me. You won't regret it. Call now! Assistants are standing by to take your call! This offer won't last for long! Call today!

rainbow cross

I really like this cross. It's made from a rainbow colored soap stone, with a silver loop on a rubber cord. It's simple and pretty.

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with jewelry, but I just love the ingenuity of reusing plastic bags like this! It is the coolest thing, and not so difficult to do! I am really liking the rain jacket! the coolest thing I have seen in a long time! check out how to make these things, and how to fuse plastic bags, HERE!

CUT + PASTE

So I found another cool crafty consignment website the other day called Cut + Paste. I like the design and what they have to offer. It's pretty cool! I found these neat glass animal pins there. Unfortunately, they are currently sold out. But they have some great other stuff!

green labradorite

Labradorite is named for its occurrence near Nain, on the coast of Labrador, Canada.
I like it because of the dog name, labrador, and since I have a big brown dog, of that type, I especially like the stone. This is a large 50mm donut that I hung on silver wire, then threaded a matching green leather cord through the loop. Accented with silver and glass beads, I think it looks MAH~velous.

journaling for ideas...

I have a journal that I bought years ago from quotablecards.com. The one I bought has graph paper in it, which is great for drawing out ideas for jewelry that come into my head at the oddest moments. I carry it with me always, along with my camera. There's lots of scribble in there and it's worn around the edges and corners, but it sure has helped me out!
Happy weekend!

Canon PowerShot SD630

In case you were wondering, I use a Canon PowerShot SD630 for all my pictures; personal or professional. I like the ease of this little camera, the large view screen, and it has many features for such a little thing! I have prefered Canon products. I am not a professional photog, nor do I want to be, and I think I have found the best solution for my photography needs at this moment.
To learn more about Canon, you can go to their website.

purple knot choker

I made this silver knot years ago in jewelry school, and I liked it so much, I kept it until I found the perfect setting for it. Well, I finally found it. Purple is considered a royal color, and the knot symbolizing an intertwining, endless eternity...you draw your own parallel.

Ocean Jasper

These are some beautiful stones. I saw some of these at the Body Mind Spirit expo that John and I went to the other day. In reading about their properties, I found out that:

Ocean Jasper (Orbicular Jasper)
Ocean Jasper (also called Orbicular Jasper) is an unusual jasper found only at a remote location on the coast of Madagascar that can only be mined at low tide! The colors vary widely - including white, green, pink, red, black, blue. The wild polka dots, wavy lines, multi colored floret patterns of Ocean Jasper make this a gorgeous and exciting stone.
The positive vibrations of Ocean Jasper make it a stone of joy.
Stimulates solar plexus, heart and throat chakras
Increases expression of love in words and actions
Gently brings into focus the positive aspects of one's life
Brings relaxation and cooperation to the home or workplace
This powerful stone lifts negativity so one can fully appreciate blessings.
I think I will have to buy some more of these. Not just for me, but for everyone I know.

Aura colors

So John and I went to a Body, Mind, Spirit expo in town the other day. These are fun to go to. There are always such interesting people to talk to there. I had another aura photo taken today. This picture, to the right, is not it. This one here was taken years ago, and I know you can't see me for all the red and orange, but I wanted to point out that the photo I had taken today has red and orange in it also, which denotes a creative power. The lady who took it asked if I was doing anything creative and, of course, I mentioned my jewelry. She talked about doing it at the type venue where she was, using stones and even crystals. Funny thing was, someone had told me the same thing a few years ago. It was nice to have this lady confirm what someone else told me before, which means to me that it holds some validity. God/Spirit/Inner voice is telling me what I should know, and really, already do on some level. I thought that was very cool. If you want to know more about auras and their colors, you can go here. I found a site that also states the Earth has an aura! This info comes from a bonafide official NASA site! you can check that out here.

Mom and Dad

On a personal note, yesterday was my Dad's birthday. Were he alive, he would be 65. I miss him terribly every day. I don't cry as much about losing him on this earth as I used to, but his birthday is a solemn day for me. That's why you didn't hear from me yesterday

Elephant pendant

I really like this little elephant and the jade bead goes great with it. Sterling silver wire and bead for accent all on a rubber cord, because I like it.
